The Monster and the Boy

The Monster and the Boy
As he sits on the carpet
Blood streaming down his wrist
The scratches growing longer
He is staring down the monster
He can never get rid of the monster
It only fades when the blade is cutting
His tears cloud his visions
He bandages his wrist
He lays down and sleeps
The next night he will do the same
Every night is the same routine
Feel so trapped then make the monster fade
Wake up like nothing happened
The monster is his shadow
He is ignoring it until nighttime
He is smiling with his family
The monster looming over him
